Frank R. Applegate | Frank R Applegate was born about 1920, the son of Ivy Applegate and brother of Richard Applegate. He grew up on Washington Street in Delanco and graduated from Palmyra High School. He was an athlete and worked as a counselor at Camp Ockinickon. He was an expert marksman and oarsman. He joined the US Navy, training in Newport Rhode Island in 1940. He served as a machinist at Norfolk Naval Base and served during WWII, earning the rankof Chief Machinist Mate. After the war he became a partner in VAMCO with Paul Vollmar and Richard Maloney. The shop was located in the alley behind 409 Burlington Avenue.
